Diss Guild meetings will be held in the Diss and District Bowls Club, Denmark Street, (Fair Green),
unless otherwise advised .
Meetings are from 12.30 until 3.30pm
Members pay £3 per meeting which also covers tea and coffee. Visitor’s fee is £4

Thursday Jan 25th Sit and Spin
Help and advice with solving any spinning problems. All members welcome to ask for advice and offer solutions, and be ready to offer “Helpful hints.”

Thursday Feb 29th Using a lucet
A brief history, and working beyond the basic cord, using a filet or beads. Please bring a lucet if you have one.

Thursday March 28th The Bears!
Visit from The Bear and He bear, with their extensive wardrobes Illustrating many techniques and fibres

Thursday April 25th Fair isle motifs
Making a pattern for motifs or Fair Isle, idea inspired by Sue’s puffin socks

Thursday May 30th Focus on Silk.

Spinning silk roving, caps, handkerchiefs. Blending silk with other fibres. Have a go if you’ve never spun silk before. An opportunity for everyone to share experiences and show any examples of work achieved.

Thursday July 25th Choosing, sorting and washing fleece.

Pitfalls to avoid when choosing fleece. Does one washing technique suit all fleece? How do you
decide which to use?

Thursday Nov. 28th AGM including Hat Challenge

You are invited to take part in a hat parade at the AGM in November 2024 wearing a hat you have made yourself. The hat may be made of any fibre or combination of fibres, wool, cotton, silk,
alpaca, flax, hemp, rush, acrylic, bamboo, etc. Any technique or combination of techniques may be used, eg. Knitting, crocheting. felting, weaving, etc.

December, no formal meeting

As in previous years, we have no meeting at the end of December.
However, in the past we have got together informally at a members home to hold our ‘Before the
Twelfth Night’ Party.
